The warning, which went into effect at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, covers most of Rockland County and parts of Northern Bergen County. (Areas in red in the image above from the National Weather Service.)
At 2:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Ramsey, New Jersey, moving northeast at 10 miles per hour.
Wind gusts of 60 miles per hour have been reported.
"Expect damage to trees and power lines," the National Weather Service said.
The storm will be near:
- Suffern around 3:20 p.m.,
- Sloatsburg around 3:25 p.m.
- Monsey and Pearl River around 3:35 p.m.
- Nanuet around 3:40 p.m.
- New City and Pomona around 345 p.m.
Three-quarter inch hail has also been reported.
The warning is in effect until 3:45 p.m. Saturday.
